Our Story

Discover how we're turning invasive mesquite and recycled carbon into sustainable water filtration solutions.

Clean water - Our mission at ReClaim BioPod

Our Mission

At ReClaim BioPod, our mission is to create sustainable water filtration solutions that work with nature, not against it. We believe that by using natural materials and processes, we can help protect our most precious resource: water.

We're committed to developing products that not only effectively filter water but also contribute to a circular economy where waste becomes a resource and environmental challenges become opportunities.

Our BioPods represent a perfect blend of traditional knowledge and modern engineering, providing effective, sustainable solutions for water filtration challenges.

From Invasive Species to Valuable Resource

Mesquite trees, while native to parts of the southwestern United States, have become invasive in many regions, outcompeting native vegetation and consuming valuable water resources.

Rather than viewing this as just an environmental problem, we saw an opportunity. Mesquite wood has unique properties that make it excellent for water filtration when properly processed.

By harvesting invasive mesquite and transforming it into our BioPod filter media, we're helping to control an invasive species while creating a valuable product that helps protect water quality.

This approach turns an environmental challenge into a sustainable solution – exactly the kind of circular thinking that drives our company.

Biochar production process - Our 55-Gallon Drum Method

Our 55-Gallon Drum Biochar Method

Biochar is a form of charcoal produced through a process called pyrolysis – heating organic material in the absence of oxygen. This ancient technique has been used for soil improvement for thousands of years.

We've adapted this traditional knowledge using a modern 55-gallon drum method that allows us to produce high-quality biochar efficiently and with minimal environmental impact.

Our biochar production process:

  1. Harvests invasive mesquite wood
  2. Dries and processes it to optimal size
  3. Uses our specialized 55-gallon drum pyrolysis method
  4. Creates biochar with ideal properties for water filtration
  5. Combines with other natural materials in our BioPods

The result is a highly effective, completely natural filtration media that captures contaminants while supporting beneficial microorganisms.

Our Sustainable Approach

Circular Economy

When our BioPod filter media reaches the end of its useful life, it doesn't become waste. It can be composted, returning valuable carbon and nutrients to the soil and completing the natural cycle.

Carbon Sequestration

Our biochar production process locks carbon into a stable form, helping to reduce greenhouse gases. When the spent media is composted, this carbon remains sequestered in the soil for hundreds of years.

Local Production

We source materials locally and produce our BioPods in small batches to ensure quality and reduce transportation impacts. This supports local economies while minimizing our carbon footprint.
